I was born in a small town. I'll probably die in a small town. I don't listen to country music. I have only heard 2 songs by John Cougar Mellencamp or whatever it is that he goes by. I am not up on current events in any sphere of life, i.e. music, movies, books, television, technology, sociological research, human rights, international affairs, neither domestic nor foreign policy, fashion, sports, poetry, youth culture or even hygiene (Korperpflege as no self-respecting German would probably say). It has always annoyed me when people use "i.e." in writing and the "finger quotation marks" when speaking. I now find myself using both quite often.
